Sexually Transmitted Disease

Deferral periods for donors with a sexually transmitted disease vary.

You may eligible if it has been more than 12 months since you completed treatment for syphilis or gonorrhea.

Chlamydia is not a cause for deferral once it has been treated.

If you have genital herpes, you are eligible to donate once lesions have healed.

Venereal warts (HPV/human papilloma virus) are not a cause for deferral.

If you have questions about sexually transmitted diseases and donor eligibility, call blood bank.
