Estimated Potential Patient Impact represents the estimated cumulative potential patient impact associated with a donor's recorded contribution, as reflected through the BDOI Humanity Score™ methodology.
The BDOI Humanity Score™ is BDOI®'s recognition metric for this contribution, while Estimated Potential Patient Impact helps explain the potential humanitarian meaning represented by the score.
BDOI® recognizes different blood and blood-component donations according to its applicable scoring methodology.
Each eligible donation contributes to the donor's BDOI Humanity Score™ according to the applicable rules.
The resulting cumulative score can also be presented as an Estimated Potential Patient Impact, helping donors understand the potential reach represented by their contribution.
For example:
❤️ BDOI Humanity Score™: 318
🏥 Estimated Potential Patient Impact: 318
The two values represent the same underlying cumulative contribution, but they serve different communication purposes.
The BDOI Humanity Score™ is the BDOI® recognition measure.
It is used for features such as:
The Estimated Potential Patient Impact provides a more human explanation of what the cumulative score is intended to represent.
It communicates the potential humanitarian reach associated with the donor's recorded contribution according to the applicable BDOI® methodology.
The Estimated Potential Patient Impact is not a claim that exactly that number of patients were treated or that exactly that number of lives were saved.
It does not mean that BDOI® knows which individual patients received a donor's blood or blood components.
Actual clinical use depends on factors including:
Your BDOI Humanity Score™ records your contribution. Your Estimated Potential Patient Impact helps you see the potential difference that contribution represents.
