The BDOI Humanity Score™ is BDOI®'s donor-impact recognition score, designed to represent the tentative potential life-saving impact associated with a donor's recorded eligible blood or blood-component donations, according to the applicable BDOI® methodology and donation-type reference values.
Different types of blood and blood-component donations can have different potential clinical uses.
Accordingly, BDOI® assigns applicable impact values to supported donation types as part of its recognition methodology.
The BDOI Humanity Score™ is calculated from the donor's eligible recorded contributions according to the applicable BDOI® methodology.
Therefore, the BDOI Humanity Score™ is intended to communicate the tentative potential life-saving impact associated with a donor's recorded contributions, rather than simply counting the number of donations.
This means that two donors with the same number of recorded donations may have different BDOI Humanity Score™ values if their donation types have different applicable impact values.
The BDOI Humanity Score™ does not mean that BDOI® has confirmed that a specific number of patients were treated or that a specific number of lives were actually saved.
The BDOI Humanity Score™ is an impact-based donor recognition measure.
It represents a tentative potential impact derived from the applicable methodology and reference information.
Actual clinical use and patient outcomes depend on factors including:
Your BDOI Humanity Score™ represents the tentative potential impact of your giving—and the decision to give is what makes the story meaningful.
