Apheresis is a special donation process that collects only the required blood component, such as platelets, and safely returns the remaining blood components back to the donor.
During platelet donation, an apheresis machine draws a small amount of blood, separates the platelets, and returns the red blood cells, plasma (as required), and most other blood components to your body.
Because only platelets are collected, your body loses fewer red blood cells compared to whole blood donation, allowing platelet donors to donate more frequently.
Apheresis is commonly used for platelet, plasma, and certain other component donations.
• Collects only the required blood component.
• Remaining blood components are returned safely.
• Uses a fully automated medical machine.
• Safe, comfortable, and widely practiced worldwide.
❤️ Every platelet collected through apheresis can become hope for someone fighting for life.
