People with O-negative (O−) blood are known as universal blood donors for red blood cell transfusions because their blood can be given to most patients during emergencies.
O-negative red blood cells do not have A, B, or Rh(D) antigens, making them less likely to trigger immune reactions in recipients.
Because of this, O-negative blood is especially valuable in emergencies when there is no time to determine a patient's blood group.
However, whenever possible, hospitals still prefer to transfuse blood that exactly matches the patient's own blood group.
❤️ If you have O-negative blood, your donation can make the difference between life and death during critical emergencies.
